The
high lands of Guinea, the region of Faranah is one of
the poorest region of the coutnry: the poverty index
lies at 62 % as compared with 7% of the rest of the
country. In the region of Faranah 21.6 % of the population
is getting its drinking water from open sources and
non-protected wells.
Implementation
Strategy
The
project will be implemented in 14 District of the region
of Faranah. 650 housholds with 3500 to 6000 people will
be trained in the application of Sodis. The training
of the population will be done by the local NGO AFES,
a women's organisation with experiences in training
people on issues in hygiene, water treatement and sanitation.
The NGO will use the participative tool SARAR and PHAST
to create awareness on the importance of treating drinking
water and establishing the application of SODIS. Government
organisation such as the national Service for Drinking
Water will be involved.

accessibility of the villages has a big influence
on the quality of the monitoring of the families

quality test made by an official laboratry in front
of the villagers and offials helps to increase the
credibility of the methode and the acceptance.
